Assessing Suicide Risk and Implementing Safety Measures in Perinatal Mental Health

Learning Objectives:
- Review the prevalence of suicide risk in perinatal populations and factors contributing to it.
- Discuss assessment strategies for identifying individuals at risk.
- Explore the role of safety planning in reducing suicide risk.
- Identify community resources and support systems for individuals experiencing suicidal ideation.
The educational objective for the APAL Grand Rounds Series is to improve medical providers’ knowledge and skills in diagnosing, treating, and supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The APAL Grand Rounds Series is held monthly on a Friday from 12 to 1pm.
