Dr. Smith will be discussing: When adolescence meets motherhood: Understanding developmental challenges to identify and treat perinatal depression.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of major depressive disorder in adolescents.

  • Describe the unique developmental challenges relevant to pregnant and postpartum adolescents.

  • Identify and treat major depressive disorder in pregnant and postpartum teenagers.

The educational objective for the APAL Grand Rounds Series is to improve medical providers’ knowledge and skills in diagnosing, treating, and supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The APAL Grand Rounds Series is held monthly on a Friday from 12 to 1pm.
