Dr. Freeman will be discussing Bipolar Disorder Across Pregnancy and the Postpartum.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To discuss the presentation and course of bipolar disorder in women across pregnancy and the postpartum.
  2. To describe and weigh the risks/benefits, and safety considerations around psychiatric medication for bipolar disorder during pregnancy and among women of reproductive age.
  3. To describe and apply the risks/benefits assessment of psychiatric medications for bipolar disorder during the postpartum and breastfeeding context.
  4. To discuss the presentation and treatment of postpartum psychosis, its relation to bipolar disorder, and prevention strategies.

The educational objective for the APAL Grand Rounds Series is to improve medical providers’ knowledge and skills in diagnosing, treating, and supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The APAL Grand Rounds Series is held monthly on a Friday from 12 to 1pm.
