Dr. Downey will be discussing Eating Disorder Treatment in Children and Adolescents.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the role of primary care provider in early detection, treatment initiation, and ongoing support for adolescents with eating disorders.
- Apply evidence-based strategies in the primary care setting for the medical evaluation, initial management, and caregiver engagement in the treatment of adolescent eating disorders.
- Identify when urgent referral or hospitalization is required and develop skills to communicate effectively with families about medical instability and the need for higher levels of care.
The educational objective for the APAL Grand Rounds Series is to improve medical providers’ knowledge and skills in diagnosing, treating, and supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The APAL Grand Rounds Series is held monthly on a Friday from 12 to 1pm.
