Dr. McFerren will be discussing PMDD Assessment and Treatment.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the neurobiological mechanisms underlying the cyclical nature of PMDD, including the concept of the “danger zone,” and discuss how this contributes to cumulative symptom burden across the reproductive lifespan.
- Recognize the core clinical features of PMDD and accurately distinguish PMDD from premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual exacerbation (PME).
- Select and implement appropriate evidence-based strategies for managing PMDD in clinical practice.
The educational objective for the APAL Grand Rounds Series is to improve medical providers’ knowledge and skills in diagnosing, treating, and supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The APAL Grand Rounds Series is held monthly on a Friday from 12 to 1pm.
