Evidence Based Psychotherapy for Perinatal Depression

Dr. Vanderkruik will be discussing Evidence Based Psychotherapy for Perinatal Depression.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Describe the evidence base supporting various types of psychotherapy for individuals in the perinatal period.
  2. Identify key considerations and adaptations for delivering psychotherapy in perinatal populations, with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and illustrative case examples.
  3. Discuss current gaps in treatment access and emerging or novel approaches to psychotherapy delivery in perinatal mental health.

The educational objective for the APAL Grand Rounds Series is to improve medical providers’ knowledge and skills in diagnosing, treating, and supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The APAL Grand Rounds Series is held monthly on a Friday from 12 to 1pm.
